On Saturday. it was with great pride that I recognised Anwar Khattak BEM for his remarkable achievements and exceptional dedication to our community by presenting him a High Sheriff Award. Over the past 24 years, Anwar’s commitment and leadership have not only transformed lives but have also laid the groundwork for a brighter future for the next generation.
The Birmingham Youth Sports Academy (BYSA) is dedicated to promoting youth development through sports, education, and community involvement. Established to provide young individuals with opportunities to engage in physical activity, learn valuable life skills, and cultivate a sense of belonging, BYSA has been a pillar of support for the youth in Birmingham. Each week they have around 300 children who they coach, mentor and develop.
Through a diverse range of programmes and activities, BYSA aims to inspire and empower young people, fostering teamwork, discipline, and resilience. The organisation not only focuses on athletic excellence but also emphasises personal growth and social inclusivity, ensuring that every participant has the chance to thrive both on and off the field.
Thank you, Anwar, for being a great example of what it means to serve others with purpose. Your work continues to make a significant difference in our community.
