Birmingham City Football Association (BCFA) – Tuesday 1st October 2024

As High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I had the honour of attending a significant event at the Birmingham City Football Association (BCFA) where we celebrated their work in the area if sustainability. As a passionate supporter and advocate of their work it was a privilege to be invited.
During the event, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands Derrick Anderson CBE presented the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development to BCFA. This award recognises their unwavering commitment to:
🌍 Improving the environmental impact of the national game
⚽ Supporting grassroots football to foster positive change
🤝 Assisting grassroots football in understanding and overcoming challenges
🌱 Making positive changes that benefit future generations
A heartfelt congratulations to Kevin Shoemake and all of his exceptional team! Their dedication and innovative approach are paving the way for a more sustainable future in football and beyond. It was also wonderful to hear how their organisation has over 25,000 volunteers.
