High Sheriff Awards at BCFJC – Wednesday 18th September 2024

The High Sheriff of the West Midlands, Douglas Wright MBE DL, had the distinct honour of returning to Birmingham Civil and Family Justice Centre on 18th September 2024 to acknowledge the exceptional dedication and hard work of court staff members by awarding several High Sheriff Awards. This event served as a platform to express gratitude for their unwavering commitment to justice and community service.
During the visit the High Sheriff highlighted the vital role that court staff play in ensuring the smooth operation of the judicial system. “Today, we’re here not only to recognise individual achievements but also to celebrate the collective effort of all staff members whose diligence and professionalism contribute to the integrity of our courts. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and you should all be very proud of your achievements”
The awards were presented to ten deserving staff members, each of whom demonstrated exemplary service in their respective roles. Among the recipients was Sharon Studholme. Sharon has completed 43 years in HMCTS. Sharon joined as administrative assistant in 1981 in what used to be called the file registry team. Since then Sharon has given her heart and soul to public service. Sharon worked her way up the grades and in 1992 became the cluster manager for West Midlands and Warwickshire (the biggest cluster in the Midlands region with more than 400 members of staff). Sharon has also worked tirelessly to improve the collaborative working relationships between various courts. With the ability and a keen eye to recognise talent, Sharon has helped and nurtured various people during her journey to reach their maximum potential and flourish. Sharon also has done a lot of work for health and wellbeing within the region. She is the lead mental health ally for the region and goes above and beyond for anyone who requires her support. Sharon retires from HMCTS next year and she will be missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working with her.
The ceremony was attended by members of the judiciary and operational managers within the Court. The High Sheriff encouraged everyone to continue striving for excellence and thanked them for their commitment and hard work.
