As the High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I attended the inaugural International Day of Birmingham spearheaded by the brilliant Joe Lycett. It was an occasion where we celebrated our shared Brummie heritage with dignitaries, community leaders, and special guests from different Birmingham locations across the globe. We were joined by some of our most famous Birmingham musicians including UB40.
The event was a civic reception at the Birmingham Council House where we gathered to officially recognise September 24th as International Day of Birmingham. Thank you to @The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Ken Wood for hosting eloquently expressing the significance of the day. He, emphasised the values of friendship, inclusivity, and community that defines our great city. It was inspiring to see so many people come together to celebrate.
A day to be very proud of all the different Birmingham’s connecting with Brummies. Well done to Joe Lycett for brilliantly hosting the event and for being such an exceptional ambassador for Birmingham.
