I had an incredible morning visiting Smart Works, a brilliant organisation dedicated to empowering women across the West Midlands.
Smart Works provides women with the clothes, coaching, and support they need to secure jobs and thrive in their careers by building their self-worth and giving them empowerment. It was very humbling to hear that last year they supported 723 women with a 72% success rate (currently at 77% for 2024) of getting their clients back into employment emphasising the great impact they are making.
I had the pleasure of meeting Alison Armstrong and Ann Powell who gave me a full tour of the centre and spoke about the challenges women face in the job market and the vital role of coaching and confidence. I also got to meet volunteers and all of the team. There is an exceptional spirit and culture throughout the organisation.
I was inspired by the incredible work being done at Smart Works to uplift women in our community and thank the team for welcoming me. They are shortly moving into bigger premises within the same building which will future proof their ability to help and support more women into employment.
