Honoured to have attended the Solihull Civic Service as High Sheriff of the West Midlands which was hosted the Mayor of Solihull, Shahin Ashraf MBE.
The event was a beautiful display of multi faith unity and community spirit at St Alphege Parish Church. The Civic Service was held to inaugurate the new Mayor of Solihull shortly after they commence their term of office. This year also marked the 50th anniversary of Solihull becoming a Metropolitan Borough Council. It also was the 60th anniversary of Solihull becoming a District Council and 70 years of the Mayoralty in Solihull. The theme for the new Mayor of Solihull’s term of office is ‘unity’ which really resonated throughout the very poigniont Church service. I am grateful for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to me and for the opportunity to be a part of this special occasion.
I am looking forward to working with the Mayor across Solihull.
