Today, as High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I attended Birmingham’s Commonwealth Day Service at St. Philip’s Cathedral. This annual celebration brings together a diverse group of people from businesses, universities, colleges and communities to foster unity, cooperation and development within the Commonwealth.
The service was a beautiful testament to our shared cultures and values, emphasising the importance of embracing both unity and diversity. We heard inspiring words from the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Derrek Anderson CBE, along with contributions from faith leaders and students from our city’s universities. The Nishkam School Choir and B: Music Workplace Choir performed wonderfully.
