I attended a vibrant celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha (GNNSJ) in Birmingham as High Sheriff of the West Midlands. This Sikh faith-based organisation is renowned for promoting values of shared responsibility, selflessness and love within the community.
The event drew a large turnout, reflecting the deep appreciation for the GNNSJ’s contributions over the past five decades. It was a heartening reminder of the power of community and the enduring spirit of service.
I will remember this occasion for a very long time. I was so impressed at their focus and dedication for educating people about their faith and their history. Some of the values the faith-based charity teach include ‘compassion, thoughtfulness and love for everyone’. All of these were evident in abundance. I was also taken aback by the level of respect shown to one another but also to all of the dignitaries present.
Finally. I must thank this organisation for their extraordinary contribution over the last fifty years to our West Midlands community.
