On this poignant Holocaust Memorial Day, I had the honour of attending a deeply moving event at the Wolverhampton Art Gallery. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest concentration camp complex and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia. The theme, “For a Better Future,” resonated strongly throughout the proceedings.
The Wolverhampton EDI team collaborated with Interfaith Wolverhampton to create a meaningful programme that brought together diverse voices and perspectives. I was particularly touched by the presentation from the Anne Frank Trust which was read by girls from a local school. Their content reminded us of the importance of tolerance, understanding and remembrance.
The event brought together community members, leaders and advocates who are committed to ensuring that the lessons of history are not forgotten. Thank you to everyone involved in organising this important event. 🙏💜
