High Sheriff Events

I had a wonderful morning attending the installation ceremony of my very dear friend, Dr. Jason Wouhra OBE, as the new Chancellor of Aston University. Dr. Wouhra steps into the role following on from Sir John Sunderland who served as Chancellor for 13 years. This significant event marks not only a remarkable milestone for Dr. Wouhra, who proudly becomes the first Chancellor of Asian heritage and the youngest person to hold this distinguished position, but it also stands as a moment of pride for our wider community. It’s fair to say that we are very proud of you.
Dr Wouhra brings with him an impressive wealth of experience as the Chief Executive of Lioncroft Wholesale Ltd, one of the UK’s foremost independent wholesale businesses. His notable background in entrepreneurship and business development promises to greatly enrich both the university and the broader West Midlands community. His dedication to mentorship and philanthropy coupled with his extensive work across various boards underscores his position as a remarkable and truly inspiring leader in our region.
As both a friend and as the High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I am particularly excited to see how Dr. Wouhra will inspire future generations and drive innovation within Aston University. Jason made an exceptional acceptance speech which included this very poignant massage that ‘entrepreneurship sits at the heart of this city and region and I’m proud to say that entrepreneurship is also at the heart of Aston University. I look forward to supporting him in his new role and witnessing the positive impact he will undoubtedly make.🎓🏫📚
