This past Saturday, I had a brilliant morning attending the School Magistrates’ Mock Trials at Birmingham Crown Court, where I met with Andrew Wood JP, our Regional Leadership Magistrate!
With five dynamic schools—Eden Boys, Tamworth Enterprise College, King Edward VI, Welland Park Academy, and Holly Lodge—competing in three thrilling rounds, the energy was electric! This really was a money can’t buy experience for students.
Organised by Young Citizens in partnership with the Magistrates’ Association, this event immersed students aged 12 to 14 in the legal world. Watching them step into the roles of magistrates, lawyers and witnesses as they tackled real life legal scenarios was nothing short of inspiring.

– Real Courtroom: Actual magistrates’ courts brought authenticity to the experience!
– Skill Building: Advocacy, critical thinking, and public speaking skills were on full display.
