I had the honour of meeting the Mayor of Dudley, Cllr Hilary Bills, who was named the borough’s first citizen at the full council meeting on 16 May 2024. As a former teacher with 42 years of experience and a decade as a headteacher, Councillor Bills brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to her new role.
Councillor Bills, who represents Halesowen North , shared her commitment to supporting various charitable causes, including Access in Dudley, Diabetes UK, and the Friends of Dudley Performing Arts. Her promise to do “everything possible” to raise funds for these organisations exemplifies her passion for giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the lives of others.
I’m looking forward to working with Councillor Hilary Bills and supporting Dudley throughout my year as High Sheriff of the West Midlands.
