As High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I recently had the privilege of attending the Walsall Sea Cadets & Royal Marine Cadets’ presentation evening. I got to meet all of the different age groups and watched various teamwork activities.The evening was filled with pride and admiration as the cadets showcased their skills and accomplishments. I had the honour of presenting awards and certificates to the cadets for their 2023 and 2024 awards. It was clear that these young individuals were not only learning technical skills but also developing important life skills that will serve them well in their future endeavours.I must also thank all of the volunteers (including parents of cadets) who run this organisation so efficiently, many of whom began as cadets themselves and are now part of the leadership of the group.
