As High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I had the pleasure of visiting the WATCH Community Centre and Hillz FM, a vital hub in Coventry dedicated to empowering individuals facing disadvantage and social exclusion in our community. Their mission to support ethnic minorities, refugees, and those who are under-represented is truly commendable.
I toured the Centre and learned about their diverse programmes, including English and computer classes, personal development workshops and job clubs. These initiatives are crucial for helping participants build skills, confidence and pathways to employment.
I also had insightful discussions with Cassandra Floresca, who leads the DWP-funded radio skills program, and James Gough, who shared details about the WMCA-funded digital skills project. Both programmes are making a significant impact, bridging gaps and providing essential tools for success.
A huge thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers who make this important work possible!
