High Sheriff Award

St Basils is both a Charity and a Housing Association with a track record of over 50 years of providing a holistic range of accommodation and support services to young people aged 16-25 from the West Midlands who are homeless, vulnerable or at risk.

I have been fortunate enough to visit St Basils on a number of occasions during my Shrieval year and have visited a number of their premises and seen the impact of the work that they are doing.

Bernadette Allen has been working at St Basils for over 33 years and she has a vast breadth of experience which so many people benefit from, not only those who work within the organisation but also the many young people who interact with her when they first engage with St Basils at what is often a particularly vulnerable time. Bernadette knows how to get things done for these people when they need it most.

I am delighted to recognise Bernadette’s vitally important work through the presentation of a High Sheriff’s Award.
