I was delighted to visit the Combined Court in Coventry to present High Sheriff Awards to a number of teams who have delivered exceptional service in support of the Judiciary, operating in the various Courts based in these premises.
Family Drugs & Alcohol Court – specialist court working alongside Coventry City Council to address addiction issues, whilst always being focused on there needs of Children
Duty Access Scheme and Haven – working to provide free legal advice to the many people who are unable to afford legal representation in Private Law proceedings
Private Law Performance Team – for exceptional progress in improving cash receipts and reducing the number of open cases to its lowest level in many years
Listing Clerks & Ushers Team for support in moving cases during periods of absence and high demand and ensuring g that no cases were vacated
Overall Civil team for exceptional support during period of absence of some of the Senior Judges
Civil Small Claims team for their progress in listing claims new claims on a timely basis
I also gave a special award to Jo Hooson who has led on the changes that have made such a difference to the Small Claims team
