I was delighted to present a High Sheriff’s Award to Elspeth Martin BEM in recognition of her long standing support as a volunteer for the Midland Air Ambulance Charity.
Elspeth is 93 years young and continues to play a very active role in contributing to fundraising activities in the West Midlands for MAAC, which has flown over 80,000 missions since it was formed in 1991.
It requires £16m per annum to maintain the fleet of 3 Helicopters which reach emergency situations in less than 10 minutes on average and it relies on a huge number of volunteers like Elspeth to support these critical services.
