Mary Clark

Mary Clark is truly an ‘unsung hero’ in her community, having dedicated over 20 years to Solihull Churches Action on Homelessness (SCAH). As a volunteer shopper for their home starter packs (HSPs), she has shopped for, compiled, and delivered hundreds of essential packs to clients from various local organizations. Notably, she has developed a close relationship with St. Basil’s, often receiving direct requests for HSPs from them for young people transitioning from care to independent living.

In 2023, Mary assisted 53 adults—20% of the total supported by SCAH—despite the charity having around ten volunteer shoppers. Even in 2024, she has already helped 34 of 124 adults. Mary also represents SCAH on the Solihull Multi Agency Homelessness Forum, further amplifying her impact in the community. Now in her mid-70s and facing health challenges, her unwavering commitment to volunteering embodies her passion for helping the disadvantaged, providing both practical support and companionship to those in need.
