High Sheriff Award

I was delighted to present a High Sheriff’s Award to Rose Cook Monk, who does an incredible amount of work in Dudley and across the wider Black Country in support of veterans.

It was very early in my Shrieval year that I attended a Peace Concert that Rose had organised to celebrate the contribution made to the war effort by people from Commonwealth countries, very many of which are represented in the West Midlands.

This was also the first time I met the wonderful Joe Bullock who was a D Day Veteran and Rose subsequently helped to organise for Joe to receive the Freedom of the Borough of Dudley at an incredibly joyous occasion at Himley Hall.

Rose continues to play an very active role in supporting the annual poppy appeal in advance of Remembrance Sunday and she works incredibly hard to educate people and ensure that we will never forget the sacrifices made by those who fight in major conflicts.
