Looked After Children has been a key area of focus for me during my Shrieval year and I have been incredibly fortunate to pay a number of visits to the Walsall TLC Hub.
This centre, run by Walsall Council, provides support for Care Leavers and particularly focuses on those aged 21+ who often fall out of the mainstream support at a critically important time. The TLC Hub provides a wide range of practical support in relation to accommodation, financial and legal matters, employment and training, as well as help with physical and mental health and well being challenges. But it does so in a really supportive environment, which also provides food and social activities for people on a regular basis, including at Christmas which can be a particularly challenging time for some of our more vulnerable young people.
I am delighted to recognise the fantastic work being done from the TLC Hub through the presentation of a High Sheriff’s Award
