High Sheriff Events

It was a privilege to join Black Country Women’s Aid at the Black Country Living Museum to celebrate 40 years of supporting women, men and children across the Black Country.

A huge thank you to Sara Ward and everyone at BCWA for such a warm welcome and for putting together such an incredible and insightful exhibition. The exhibition provided a fascinating look back at the charity’s journey, while also highlighting the vital work it continues to do today. BCWA has grown from humble beginnings around a kitchen table into a multi-service charity supporting people affected by domestic abuse and violence.

One of the most powerful parts of the evening was hearing real stories from people who have benefited from BCWA’s services. Listening to their experiences and hearing about the difference the charity has made in their lives was both moving and incredibly inspiring.

Black Country Women’s Aid is my chosen charity for my year as High Sheriff, and I am incredibly proud of the partnership we are building together. I look forward to working closely with Sara and the whole team throughout the remainder of my shrieval year, supporting their work, helping to raise awareness and fundraising, and continuing that relationship long beyond my time as High Sheriff.

Congratulations to everyone at Black Country Women’s Aid on 40 years of listening, supporting and caring. Here’s to the next chapter.
