I was delighted to visit Black Country Women’s Aid, my chosen Charity of the Year, to learn more about the incredible work they do across the West Midlands.
During my visit, I met with CEO Sara Ward and members of her team to hear about the wide range of support they provide to women, children and families affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking and exploitation. I was deeply impressed by their dedication and the positive impact they make in helping vulnerable people rebuild their lives.
We also discussed how I can best support the charity throughout my year in office, exploring opportunities to raise awareness and fundraise for their vital services. I am keen to use my role and network to help champion their work and contribute to the sustainability of the support they provide.
It was an inspiring and informative visit, and I would like to thank Sara and everyone at Black Country Women’s Aid for their warm welcome. I look forward to working closely with the charity over the coming year and supporting their invaluable work across our communities.
