I was delighted to attend the BEM Investitures ceremony in Birmingham, alongside the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, mayors from across the West Midlands and the Lord-Lieutenant.
It was a privilege to be in a room filled with people who have given so much of their time, energy and dedication to their communities. Each recipient had their own unique story, but what united them was an incredible commitment to making a difference in the places they live and the people around them.
Hearing the stories behind the BEMs was particularly inspiring. From those supporting local communities and charitable causes to individuals who have dedicated years to helping others, the contributions being recognised demonstrated the remarkable spirit of service that exists across the West Midlands.
It was wonderful to see so many people recognised not simply for what they have achieved, but for the lasting impact they have had on their communities. Their dedication is a reminder that positive change often starts with individuals who are willing to give their time, skills and compassion to help others.
Congratulations to all of the recipients on this well-deserved recognition. It was a real honour to celebrate their achievements and the difference they continue to make across the West Midlands.
