I was delighted to attend the BoxFit Birmingham Awards and to celebrate the achievements of the young people, volunteers and wider team who make such a difference in their community.
Thank you to Sam for inviting me and for giving me the opportunity to see first-hand the incredible work BoxFit is doing. The organisation provides young people with a positive environment where they can build confidence, develop discipline and learn new skills, while helping to keep them safe and away from the dangers of knife crime and gang violence.
What struck me most about the evening was the diversity of people in the room and the range of stories and experiences they had to share. Everyone had their own journey, but there was a real sense of community and a shared commitment to supporting young people to reach their potential.
Sport can be such a powerful tool for bringing people together, providing positive role models and giving young people somewhere to belong. The dedication of everyone involved with BoxFit is helping to create those opportunities and make a genuine difference.
It was a privilege to be part of the celebrations and to hear about the achievements being recognised. Congratulations to all of the award winners, and to everyone at BoxFit for the vital work you continue to do.
