It was a pleasure to bring together my High Sheriff Cadets for a special employability skills session, hosted by Pertemps at its head office.
The session was designed to give the cadets practical advice and confidence as they begin to think about their future education and careers. Led by Ella Dancer, Learning and Development Business Partner at Pertemps, the day explored the skills employers value most and encouraged the cadets to recognise the strengths and qualities they already have.
The cadets also looked at how their individual skills, interests and personalities can help them identify careers that are right for them, rather than simply following a particular route because they feel it is expected of them.
Throughout the session, they had the opportunity to develop their communication and teamwork skills, consider different career options and start thinking about how they can present themselves positively to future employers.
Employability and creating opportunities for young people are incredibly important, and it was wonderful to see the cadets engaging so enthusiastically and beginning to think about the possibilities ahead of them.
A huge thank you to Ella for delivering such an engaging and valuable session and sharing her expertise with the group. I would also like to thank all of the cadets who attended, for getting involved, asking questions and embracing the opportunity with such enthusiasm. I hope they left feeling inspired and more confident about the many opportunities ahead of them.
