I was honoured to join the Lord-Lieutenant, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and other civic leaders as guests of the Consul General of India, Birmingham at a reception in Birmingham Council House to mark the occasion of the 77th Republic Day of India
All of the leaders spoke about the positive contribution made by the Indian community to the life of the West Midlands across a broad range of diverse areas such as trade, healthcare, education, politics, sport and the creative arts.
We were also treated to a delicious meal and entertained by singers and dancers whom exemplified the pride that the Indian diaspora has in respect of both their heritage and their role in the UK
