I was pleased to spend a fascinating morning with my Chaplain, Rev Chris Kennedy, learning more about the exceptional work of DATUS and KIKIT and the vital support they provide to people affected by drug and alcohol addiction.
Thank you to Jamie Sadler and Mohammed Ashfaq MBE for their warm welcome and insightful overview of the services they deliver. What particularly impressed me was the power of lived experience. Many of their volunteers have walked the recovery journey themselves and now use that experience to help others rebuild their lives.
Through advocacy, education, training and practical support, these organisations are tackling stigma, strengthening communities and giving people the opportunity to restore relationships, rediscover purpose and look forward to a brighter future.
Their compassion, commitment and belief in the potential of every individual are truly inspiring. Thank you for all that you do to make a difference across the West Midlands.
