I was honoured to attend a moving flag-raising service in Birmingham recognising the dedication, courage and sacrifice of those who serve in our emergency services.
It was a poignant opportunity to reflect on the vital role our emergency services play in keeping our communities safe, and to recognise the people who dedicate their lives to helping others, often in incredibly challenging circumstances.
It was particularly moving to stand alongside representatives from across our emergency services and take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
I would like to thank the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Zakar Choudhry, for hosting such a meaningful service, and everyone who helped bring people together to honour and remember those who serve our communities.
It was a privilege to be part of such an important occasion.
