I have had an opportunity to meet with the Commanders for West Midlands Police in each of the boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall in the last couple of weeks. It has been great to understand some of the key issues that they are facing as well as the success of initiatives that have been undertaken to address key priorities set out in the Police and Crime Plan for the County. I have also got a better understanding of the engagement with third sector organisations in each borough which make a vital contribution in crime reduction, rehabilitation and victim support.
I also attended a Hydra Training session at Tally Ho where I met the Commander for Wolverhampton. I was hugely impressed by the nature of this training which set out a scenario which senior officers might have to deal with and provided guidance from various subject matter experts to inform that decision making.
