I was delighted to attend the Degree Awards Congregations for Birmingham Newman University at Symphony Hall as a guest of the Vice Chancellor Professor Jackie Dunne.
The Ceremony was expertly led by Juliet Etchingham and included the award of an honorary doctorate to Mr Lewis Goodall in recognition of his work in journalism.
It was also an opportunity to reflect on the wide range of accolades that the University has recently received, most notably for the student experience that it provides. I was also struck by the strong vocational focus of the degrees which prepare the graduates to become valued parts of our communities going forward.
