I was very pleased to join Deputy Lieutenant Stewart Towe CBE, the Mayor of Sandwell Steve Melia and fellow Mayors from Walsall, Dudley and Solihull at a Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration Service at Highfields in Wrest Bromwich.
It was encouraging to see so many people form the Borough join the service and we had the great honour of hearing from Mindu Hornick MBE, who is a survivor of the Holocaust, who spoke so movingly of her experiences of forced labour camps and Auschwitz and the loss of her family members.
All present committed to continuing to remember and educate about, and learn from, the atrocities that took place.
