I had the pleasure of attending a reception hosted by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham to promote the Invictus Games which will be coming to the West Midlands in summer 2027. The mission of the Invictus Games is to encourage a greater international understanding of, and respect for, those who have served their country by inspiring recovery and supporting the rehabilitation of the wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans.
The reception at Fisher House on the site of the QE Hospital had particular resonance and we were privileged to hear from two veterans and get a greater appreciation of the way in which Invictus makes such a positive difference to people’s lives.
