High Sheriff Events

I was honoured to attend the opening of the fourth centre of James’ Place, a remarkable charity offering free, life-saving treatment to suicidal men at its centres across the country.

It was a privilege to join His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales and His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Dr Derrick Anderson, for this important occasion, alongside many others committed to supporting mental health and suicide prevention.

During my visit, I learned more about the urgent need for this specialist support . It reinforced just how vital organisations such as James’ Place are in offering hope, intervention and compassionate care at the moment it is needed most.

The centre itself felt serene and calm – a safe and welcoming environment designed with great thought and sensitivity. I was particularly moved by the dedication of the people working there, whose compassion and genuine care for the men they support was evident throughout my visit.

The opening of this fourth centre represents another significant step in ensuring that more men have access to the support they need, and I left feeling inspired by the extraordinary work being carried out by everyone involved with James’ Place.
