I was delighted to attend the official launch of the Sir Peter Rigby Coronation Food Hub based out of Erdington in Birmingham.
In collaboration with FareShare Midlands, the Hub aims to distribute 7 million meals a year to feed over 30,000 people in the West Midlands as well as support 500 people a year in to careers in catering and logistics through an employability programme.
There are major challenges with food poverty and unemployment amongst young people in Birmingham and it was very inspiring to see the work that Sir Peter Rigby is leading in this area. I also enjoyed talking to Simone Connolly the CEO of FairShare Midlands to better understand the work that are doing with Care leavers and ex-offenders to enable them to take positive steps forward in their lives.
