I was honoured and delighted to be invited to open the new School of Business and Law at Birmingham Newman University.
This is a University which is clearly committed to serving the communities of the West Midlands, with a high proportion of the rapidly increasing number of students coming from, and remaining in, the County. It not only focuses on social mobility through attracting a high number of students who are the first from their family to attend University, it then provides them with the broad range of skills and experience required to respond to the challenges we are facing across the region. It was really encouraging to see the recognition it is receiving for the quality of its teaching and support for students,
The newly formed School of Business and Law has nearly 750 students studying Business, Accounting, Law Computer Science, Criminology and Policing.
