I joined nearly 50 volunteers from the Warwickshire Search and Rescue team at one of the regular training sessions in Leamington Spa.
The Search and Rescue Service is a lowland rescue team which assist the Police ( including in the West Midlands ) with searches for vulnerable missing persons, and their 88 members were involved with 70 call outs last year.
Although it is an entirely voluntary service, I was hugely impressed by the professional manner in which they undertake this vital work. I got to see the broad range of equipment that they have available to them, the rigour of the training that is provided to new volunteers and the ever increasing use of technology that is used in the execution of the searches.
