It was a true pleasure to attend Solihull Shines, the Mayor of Solihull’s charity fundraising concert – an evening that lived up to its name in every sense. The event brought together the very best of Solihull’s young talent, offering an inspiring showcase of poetry, theatre, music and dance.
The evening was a powerful reminder of the depth of creativity within our community. Each performance reflected not only the skill and dedication of the young people involved, but also the encouragement and support they receive from families, teachers and local organisations. It was a joy to witness such confidence and artistry on display.
Beyond the performances, what made the evening truly special was its purpose. The concert was held in support of three outstanding charities, each making a meaningful difference in their own way. The Cameron Grant Memorial Trust works tirelessly to raise awareness of mental health challenges affecting young people and to provide vital support and resources. Newlands Bishop Farm offers invaluable opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, supporting independence, skills development and wellbeing through its unique farm-based environment. OVOS (Our Voice, Our Services) plays a crucial role in advocating for children, young people and families, ensuring that their voices are heard and that services are shaped around their needs.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Annette McKenzie, for hosting such a meaningful and uplifting event. Her commitment to championing both young people and important local causes was evident throughout the evening, and her leadership made Solihull Shines a memorable success.
