A particularly moving engagement during my shrieval year was the Violet Project’s Hope Remains Service of Hope and Remembrance.
Speaking about grief, and publicly about losing my mum to a stroke, for the first time, was far more emotional than I had expected. But it reminded me that vulnerability matters.
Grief is grief. At its heart are love and loss, and the absence of someone who mattered deeply to us.
The afternoon was a powerful reminder to talk, to listen and to reach out. Suicide prevention, which is what the Violet Project focusses on, is everyone’s business, and sometimes simply being there is where hope begins.
