Amanda and I were delighted to join the Vice Lord-Lieutenant Louise Bennett OBE and the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Rachel Lancaster and her consort Meredith, in welcoming HRH The Princess Royal to Coventry for the AGM of The Riding for the Disabled Association.

As well as the formal business of the AGM, we heard from the Chair Ms Helena Vega Lozano and Chief Executive Michael Bishop about the impact of RDA on the health and well being of disabled people.

RDA operates from nearly 450 centres across the UK, engages over 13,600 volunteers and provides nearly 1,000 sessions every single day to nearly 40,000 participants. There are proven benefits in terms of improved mental well being and social connections, derived from engagement with horses, and it was great to acknowledge the 50th anniversary of the carriage driving programme.
