I had a really interesting and informative visit to Compton Care in Wolverhampton where I was hosted by the CEO Rachel Overfield.
Compton Care provides accessible care and support for people living with life limiting conditions in the Black Country and parts of South Staffs. The hospice facility which comprises 18 Bedroom suites on site, was opened in 1982, but today Compton also supports another 20 people at a time in its “Virtual ward” and it has over 2,000 people that it supports in the local community via over 8,000 visits during the year.
As well as employing over 300 staff, Compton also benefits form the support of over 600 volunteers, many of whom work in in the 25 retail units / coffee shops which make a major contribution to the annual fundraising targets which comprise over 60% of the income of the Charity.
