I had a really interesting morning at Coventry College where I was hosted by the Principal and CEO Carol Thomas.
Carol explained that the College has grown significantly in recent years and now provides education and training to approximately 3,500 young people aged 16 – 18 and to a further 4,000 adults. This covers a wide range of subject areas from the academic and technical to the practical and I was hugely impressed by the quality of the facilities that are available to support the students in such a diverse range of opportunities. This included engineering, welding, car mechanics, all aspects of construction trades, architecture, design and performing arts.
It was also exciting to see how the digital offering using VR technology supplements the classroom learning.
It was also encouraging to see the extent of the engagement with local employers to ensure the education and training that is being offered is consistent with the needs of those who will be looking to offer employment to those who graduate from the college.
