I had a really informative visit to the Himaya Haven CIC in Sparkbrook which focuses on providing support to families of loved ones in custody and prison.
The support ranges from practical support with understanding the working of the justice system and coping with financial and housing challenges, as well as critically important emotional support for those dealing with the trauma of having family members in the justice system. There is vital encouragement to enable families to continue functioning for the benefit of all parties, including reducing the likelihood of habitual reoffending.
