I was delighted to join High Sheriff’s from across the East and West Midlands on a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire.
The NMA is part of the Royal British Legion and exists to ensure that those who have served and sacrificed are never forgotten and that the baton of remembrance is passed on through the generations.
We were privileged to be guided around the site by one of the 250+ volunteers who help visitors to better understand the history behind the many memorials and I was personally pleased to see the Memorial commemorating the Royal Leicestershire Regiment which is the regiment with whom my father served during his national service.
