I had an extremely informative and enjoyable visit to the Birmingham Civil and Family Justice Centre based in the Priory Courts.
BCFJC is the largest business centre for Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service in the Midlands and houses 59 hearing rooms including Courtrooms. It covers a very wide range of civil cases including the High Court, Family, Property, Administrative, Financial Remedy and Tribunals work.
I was encouraged to learn about a number of initiatives which are taking place to significantly reduce the backlog of cases, most notably Pathfinder which has been so successful that it is now being rolled out across the wider Midlands region.
It was also interesting to learn about the work of the “Support Through Court” charity where volunteers help people navigate their way through some of the complexities of court processes.
