High Sheriff Events

I visited the Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre in Coventry alongside the Lord Mayor, Councillor Rachel Lancaster.

The MDSC was opened in 2012 and there are now additional centres in Birmingham, Daventry and the East Midlands and they exist to improve the lives of those living with MD and related neuromuscular conditions. This is achieved through a combination of physiotherapy, osteopathy and other complimentary therapies with a key objective being to maintain mobility for as long as possible.

There are over 12,000 people living with MD in the Midlands and the MDSC is an independent charity with 25 fantastic volunteers who make a real difference to the lives of their service users. One of the things that struck me during my visit was the positive outlook shared between all involved.
