I had a really enjoyable afternoon at the Stonehouse Gang, which has been working with young people in Selly Oak and surrounding areas since 1938.
The Charity runs a range of group sessions across the whole week from their main site with a particular focus on those aged between 6 – 18, although there are also sessions for Mums with young children, as well as a 50+ group which meets once a week.
There are approximately 5,000 visitors every year and an amazing number of volunteers who help the core team, many of whom were previous beneficiaries of the charity when they were younger.
In addition to the core activities, the charity also arranges residential activity holidays from a centre in the Brecon Beacons which is a great opportunity for the children to experience time in the countryside.
